The Oxfordshire Countryside
At the beginning of our long drive is one of many designated footpaths for walkers. There is also an 8 mile circular walk directly out of the barn door (map provided). For those who are happier on 2 wheels bring your bikes and discover the beautiful Oxfordshire countryside which is renowned for its cycling. The renowned Frilford Heath Golf Course is less than 15 minutes away and we also have stables nearby for those who fancy horseriding.
Pubs
In the picturesque village of Charney Bassett, there will be a warm welcome from hosts Jackie and Ian at 'The Chequers Inn'. It is walking distance either by road (no path) or across the fields.
The Chequers has been licensed to serve fine ales, stout, wines and spirits since early 1800s and this charming, peaceful countryside inn is the perfect retreat for a relaxing drink and/or meal.

White Horse Hill
A National Trust beauty spot, take time to walk up the hill to visit the internationally-renowned Bronze-Age Uffington White Horse. It can be seen for miles away leaping across the head of a dramatic dry valley in the Ridgeway escarpment.
The horse is only part of the unique complex of ancient remains that are found at White Horse Hill and beyond, spreading out across the high chalk downland.
With a pay carpark on site (free disabled) higher up the hill. On hot days the icecream van often visits or stop off at the White Horse 16th Century thatched Inn at Woolstone for a pint before returning home to The Long House.
Oxford
Oxford known for its dreaming spires is easily visited from the barn. Renowned for its history and heritage we strongly recommend booking onto one of the walking tours where you will learn so much more about the colleges and the fascinating history. There is a bustling town centre with cinemas, theatres, museums and restaurants to keep you busy. You could hire a bike and join one of the hundreds of students on two wheels!
The Long House is the perfect location if you are visiting your son/daughter at Oxford University/Oxford Brooks.
